Your Investment Protected by Solar Panel Warranty

When you are getting ready to invest in solar panels, you’ll probably start thinking about your solar panel warranty. Since solar panels have no moving parts, they rarely need maintenance or repairs for the lifetime of the system. The most likely scenario for your solar panels is that they generate energy trouble-free for decades.

Understand Your Solar Panel Warranty

At POWERHOME Solar, we offer solar panels with superior reliability and performance. They are some of the highest quality solar panels with the lowest defect rates that you can find. This reliability and quality is reflected in the warranty offered on the solar panels we install on your home.

Solar panels generally have two types of warranties: performance and equipment. Our solar panels come with a 30-year linear power performance guarantee and a 25-year product workmanship guarantee (12-year warranty extendable based on registration with the manufacturer). A solar panel’s product warranty covers problems such as manufacturing defects and premature wear and tear.

Even though the most likely scenario is years of trouble-free performance from your solar panels, solar panel problems do happen from time to time. If you do have an issue with a solar panel post-installation, it most likely will not affect the rest of your system. Depending on the reason why a panel failed, your system will continue running with the panel in place.

However, sometimes a panel will fail in such a way that the performance of your system is impacted. Your solar panel warranty will cover you if you need to replace a bad panel with a new one. It is for this reason we use American-made solar panels with solid warranties on performance and equipment. The panels that POWERHOME uses guarantee that your panels will operate at 80 percent of their original capacity after 30 years.

How Long Do Solar Panels Last?

Although the solar panels we install are warrantied for 30 years, they should, in fact, last much longer. They will actually continue producing energy long after their warranty has expired. That’s good news for the return on your investment in a solar power system. Since most solar savings estimates are based on the calculation of a 25-year solar panel warranty, any extra mileage you get from your solar panels is an added bonus.

Inverter Warranty

While your solar panels will last a long time with very little degradation, your inverter, which converts the DC energy your solar panels generate into AC energy that your home can use, comes with a similar warranty timeline. It is warrantied for 12 years, but customers have the option of purchasing an additional 13 years of coverage (25 in all). It may be a no-brainer for customers to extend the inverter warranty to come close to matching the warranty on your solar panels. As the installer of your system, we will take care of any warranty issues.

The Bottom Line on Solar Panel Warranties

It is quite unlikely that you will need to replace your solar panels before the warranty is up. Solar panels have a long life span and usually outlast their warranty. Yet they continue to provide your home with the energy it needs. And that’s good for your bottom line.

With over 35 years of industry experience, our solar panel manufacturer is a pioneer in PV technology and is dedicated to an innovative approach that provides superior manufacturing processes including infra-red cell sorting, glass washing, automated soldering and meticulous cell alignment.
